Chris Hadfield Coin

In case you've not seen it, here is the $300 gold coin of my friend and college classmate Chris Hadfield (see my earlier post), two-time shuttle astronaut and first Canadian to do a spacewalk. I believe the spacewalk was to repair something - guess that makes him the zero gravity Canadian Tire guy.

Thanks Peter - I like your blog! It's a humbling and surreal honour for me to be on the coins. The event in Ottawa was very nice, a proud moment for my family, as you can imagine. No spare gold Hadfields lying around, sorry!

Subject: Your Coin

Hi Chris,
So how cool is it to have your likeness on a $300 gold coin? I trust you understand how inadequate it makes the rest of us feel. Thought you might get a chuckle from the two entries I've put on my blog on the subject. By the way, if you have any extra $300 coins sitting around the house, you're welcome to donate them to my Team Diabetes fundraising effort!!More seriously though, congratulations and best wishes. Hope I'll see you here at UNB again sometime.

Peter
