Blogger Idol

My friend Mike alerted me to the Running Blog Idol contest that iRun magazine has initiated. I've sent in an entry so who knows, I may become a (barely) famous blogger yet!

Still Running!!

It's been a very busy couple of weeks due to work related travel but I've managed to get in a decent number of runs - mostly around 5k.

Two weeks ago I was in Toronto and so I was running in the city core - yuch. Last week I was at a training program north of Montreal and so I was running on gorgeous wilderness trails in the Laurentians - fantastic!

If you ever have the chance, I highly recommend La Sapiniere in the small town of Val-David. Not only was it great for running but in summer the hiking and biking would be amazing and in winter the cross-country skiing would be just as great. Also nearby are numerous ski/snowboard hills.

25 Years

Today marks 25 years since my father passed away from complications during treatment for leukemia. He was a dedicated runner and so I am, in a sense, simply carrying on the family tradition.

New Gear

I have finally done it ... bought a wetsuit that is. When I was in Toronto last week I made a point of getting out to a GREAT store called Enduro Sport where they had their rental wetsuits on sale. I purchased a Nineteen Pipeline full sleeve in great condition so I have no excuse now for not racing more next season.

Blind Guys Tri Team

Here's a video about the Blind Guys Tri Team that I have joined. I am really looking forward to participating with Myra Rodrigues who is truly an inspiration. Make sure your computer's speakers are on - sound starts a few seconds into the video.

Cycling In November

I believe that this is the first year that I've managed to continue my commuting by bicycle all the way into November. It was a little frosty this morning - temp was 5 or 6 below zero (celcius) when I left home but I was well bundled up. Only area that is a problem to keep warm are my toes. It's also pretty dark when I set out on my ride but I had lots of lights and reflectors to make sure I was safe.
